Wayne Bertrand holds
a B.Sc. degree in Geology from the
University of the West Indies in 1969 and a M.Sc. in Geology from the University of
British Colombia in 1972.
He has over 30 years experience in the
energy industry holding several technical,
managerial and leadership positions from
Senior Geologist at Shell Canada Limited to
his current position.
Along the way he has held several managerial
and leading positions in the Upstream--
including General Manager-Trinmar and Vice
President- Exploration and Production; and
in Corporate- including Divisional
Manager-Planning and Joint Ventures,
Executive Manager-Subsidiaries and
Insourcing and Vice President-Business
Development. He was promoted to his current
position in 2003 February.
Wayne has been advisor to the Trinidad and
Tobago Government and the Barbados
Government on technical geological and
reservoir issues. He was also instrumental
in the discovery of the Trinidad North Coast
Marine Area Hibiscus and Chaconia gas fields
currently being developed by British Gas as
operator of the joint venture in which
Petrotrin has a participating interest. He
has extensive experience in negotiating,
operating and managing joint venture
arrangements with small and major companies.
His current mandate includes a major
refinery upgrade, a refining and marketing
journey to excellence program and new
business development.
He currently serves as a director of Trinmar
Limited, Trinidad Northern Areas (TNA) and
Trintomar. He has also been the Petrotrin
Visiting Fellow and Program Director of the
B.Sc Petroleum Geoscience Program at the
University of the West Indies and is
currently Convenor of the Academic/Industry
Committee for this programme. He has
published and/or presented over Twenty-one
(21) papers both locally and
internationally.
Wayne is a member of the American
Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG),
the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE),
the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists
(CSPG), the Geological Society of Trinidad
and Tobago (GSTT), the Association of
Professional Engineers, Geologists and
Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) and the
Petrotrin representative on several business
organizations and on ARPEL. He was presented
with the SPETT Distinguished award in 1995
and 2005 and was made an Honorary Member of
the GSTT in 2002.
