What is GLOBE?
G.L.O.B.E., Global
Learning and
Observations to
Benefit the
Environment, is an
international
environmental
science and
education programme,
which seeks to
create links between
students, teachers
and the scientific
research community.
Students can learn
more about their
environment through
hands on experience
in data collection
and observation.
GLOBE is an
international
programme, where
students from around
the world conduct a
continuing programme
of scientific
measurements on
their local
environment.
The students
transmit the data
that they have
collected via the
Internet to a
central data
processing facility,
where it is put into
vivid images and
sent back to the
schools. The
students are able to
compare their data
with other GLOBE
participants around
the world, as well
as collaborate with
scientists and other
students and use the
data for education
and research.

EDWED
In
commemoration of
Earth Day and World
Environment Day
(EDWED) Petrotrin
undertook a project
to donate plants
(ornamental, fruit
and flowering trees)
to various schools
throughout Trinidad
especially in the
rural districts.
Each school had a
tree planting
ceremony as their
effort to celebrate
these two important
dates.

Aquaculture
Corporate HSE has
also initiated a
pilot aquaculture
project at the
Tabaquite Composite
school. The school
received a $5,000
cheque donated by
the Company to
assist in the
purchase of
materials for this
project. The
aquaculture project
allows the students
to get first hand
experience in the
rearing of fish for
commercial purposes.
