Hospitalisation (Augustus Long Hospital)

Hospitalization is provided at the Augustus Long Hospital for employees and their dependants when necessary and for retirees and their dependents for surgery in accordance with the rules of the company’s Medical Plan.

Hospitalization is also provided for third parties on prior approval of the Chief Medical Officer or his designate, at a fee for service basis. Third parties comprise the following:

Persons covered by contracts with non-Petrotrin companies
Temporary workers and their immediate dependents e.g. spouse, child
Retirees and their immediate dependents, e.g. spouse, child, for non-surgical short stay
The extended families of employees e.g. mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers, sisters, children over age limit of eligibility, etc

The attending physician depending on the nature of the patient’s condition may request consultant specialists. The specialist gives his/her opinion or advice but the responsibility for management is that of the attending physician. The doctor on call handles admissions outside of normal working hours.
