Mr. Allum has over 34
years of technical and leadership
experience in the energy sector. He has
worked in both the upstream and
downstream sectors, in national as well
as multinational companies. Mr. Allum
has significant experience in marketing,
economics and business development at
the senior level and has played an
integral role in developing this
Company’s Marketing Division.
Mr. Allum began his
career in the energy industry in 1974 at
the Trinidad and Tobago Oil Company
Limited (TRINTOC). In 1987, Mr. Allum
was promoted to Assistant to the
Managing Director, TRINTOC, where he
participated in Strategic Planning;
developed and implemented a Cost
Effectiveness and Improvement Programme
and served on a project team which
reviewed and submitted recommendations
on the Oil Industry Rationalization. In
1990, he was appointed Economics &
Business Development Manager, a position
which he continued to hold after the
formation of Petrotrin in 1993. While in
this position, Mr. Allum planned and
implemented the purchase of crude oil,
natural gas and other feedstock for the
refineries and the marketing of spare
refining capacities/assets. He also
planned, developed and implemented a
hedging programme for minimizing losses
due to adverse crude and product price
movements.
In 1998, he was appointed
Sales Manager at Petrotrin, with
responsibility for planning and
implementing the marketing of all
petroleum products and by-products in
local, regional and international market
channels.
In 2002, he was promoted
to Manager, Marketing and Trading
responsible for maximizing the Company’s
gross margin through the cost effective
acquisition of crude oil/feedstock and
maximizing sales volume in premium
markets. He was promoted to General
Manager, Marketing and Trading in 2004
where his responsibilities were expanded
to include the safe and efficient
operations of the port as well as the
delivery and receipt systems.
In 2008, Mr. Allum’s
progression continued when he was
appointed Vice President, Refining and
Marketing responsible for the safe,
efficient and viable operations of
Petrotrin’s refining and marketing
operations.
As President, Mr. Allum has inherited a
number of major projects ongoing at
Petrotrin’s refinery; all intended to
secure the Company’s continued survival
and competitiveness over the long term.
The Gasoline Optimisation Programme
would be paramount and involves the
construction/upgrade of five plants
intended to improve the refinery’s
production of cleaner and more efficient
fuels.
“In July 2009, Mr. Allum was appointed
Chairman of the Board of Directors of
Lake Asphalt Trinidad and Tobago (1978)
Limited. In October 2009, he was
appointed to serve as a member on the
Board of Directors at Petrotrin. He is
also a member of the Government’s
Standing Committee on Energy.” |
