Petrotrin
was a major sponsor of the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Conference 2010 on
Energy and Entrepreneurship, held at the Hyatt Regency on 2010 January
25 to 27.
The event,
described as “the premier event on the local energy calendar” by Senator
the Honourable Conrad Enill, Minister of Energy and Energy, provides the
opportunity for ideas and information exchange between Government,
industry, academia and the wider national community.
In his
address at the function, Minister Enill said that this year’s theme
Energy and Entrepreneurship is timely. He argued that as the world
recovers from financial challenges, fostering entrepreneurship will play
a pivotal role in building and expanding our gas-based economy.
Petrotrin
was represented at the Conference by President Kenneth Allum, Board
Member Andrew McIntosh, General Manager Strategy and Business
Development, Imtiaz Ali as well as several senior employees of the
Company.
Mr. Imtiaz
Ali presented an update of Petrotrin’s Major Projects focusing on
initiatives in the Company’s upstream and downstream areas. He said that
in the E&P acreages, the emphasis is on 3D seismic acquisition;
development drilling; infrastructure upgrades and HSE compliance
projects. At the Pointe-a-Pierre Refinery, Petrotrin is trying to
complete the Clean Fuels Projects which include the Gasoline
Optimization Project and the Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel project.
One
important event that also took place at the conference was the signing
of the Safe to Work (STOW) Charter. President Kenneth Allum signed on
Petrotrin’s behalf.
The STOW
initiative was created in response to the HSE demands on contractors.
The initiative provides a template HSE management system that energy
service contractors can use to manage risks in critical activities in
the energy industry. The oil and gas companies are moving towards making
STOW certification a requirement of doing business in Trinidad and
Tobago. |
